Conures are a deservingly popular group of birds, they are collectively beautiful, intelligent, generally breed well when given appropriate conditions, and mostly make good pets. Of the conures, the Pyrrhuras have always rated very highly for me, being gorgeous little birds and packing plenty of personality. I photographed this selection of Pyrrhuras during visit to a wonderful conure collection in Denmark back in 2010; enjoy!

My pick of the bunch: Aren't Crimson-bellied Conures just magic?! They are so stunning, I don't think they could be improved upon! I am not sure if any pure mutations in this species exist?

As a group, these birds have everything to offer. They range from easy to difficult to breed, plain to very colorful and inexpensive to costly. They are quiet and quickly recognize their keeper. They have always been favorites.
Couldn’t agree more!
When you start with this species off birds. Your hooked for live. Species are great a different each one. Mutation there a lott around and every time there are new once to the collection. Even for breeder with not a Lott off experience with neo tropical parakeets, they are easy. The challenge is to keep birds as pure as we can.
I have a pure Violet mutation Crimson-bellied Conure and have produced coloured young. It was bred from 2 normal coloured birds.
I remember you mentioning this mutation a couple of years back. Sounds very interesting, please feel free to put up a post in the mutation section of the forum with some pics, if you’d like to. I’m sure that many would love to see them, including me! Thanks for commenting.
