The Brown-hooded Parrot Pyrilia haematotis (formally Pionopsitta haematotis) is a species that is virtually unheard of in aviculture. It is found in southeastern Mexico through to northwestern Colombia. I photographed this bird in the collection of Jaco Lacs of Panama in 2011. Jaco explained to me that this species is difficult to maintain successfully in captivity, hence why it has never been even close to widely known in aviculture.
