I have to say that I’m very excited about the colour of these two little Purple-crowned Lorikeets. Their parents have already produced some very nicely coloured babies, but these two are the most vibrant yellow to date. I absolutely adore this species; such a little Aussie beauty! This mutation is considered a dilute form, it is interesting in that over the years I have been breeding them I have bred them in various shades, from only slightly lighter than normal, to lime, to much more yellow. Most often, the cocks are more lime coloured and hens more yellow. Only once previously have I bred a bird as yellow as these two, and this is out of close to 100 chicks. I look forward to these two fledging and having them DNA sexed. There is still much to learn about this mutation; exciting times lie ahead!
