20 years ago the Spix’s Macaw disappeared from the wild; the Caatinga lost an incredible species and the people of the region thought they had heard the call of this beautiful parrot for the last time.
Since then ACTP and their partners in the Spix’s Macaw De-Extinction Project have been working tirelessly to bring it back. We are now closer than ever before to seeing and hearing these amazing birds flying free in the wilds of the Brazilian Caatinga once again!
