In less than one month ACTP will send 50 Spix’s Macaw’s from their state-of-the-art breeding centre near Berlin, Germany to their purpose built Breeding, Research and Release Centre in the Caatinga, Brazil! This is a gigantic milestone in the history of the Spix’s Macaw De-Extinction Project; it will be the first time for 20 years that the call of this beautiful small blue macaw will be heard in its home region and will bring us closer than ever before to the world‘s first reintroduction of an extinct (in the wild) parrot species.
